How I Celebrate Earth Month as a Holistic Hairstylist
Every month is Earth Month in my world, but April always gives me an extra reason to pause, reflect, and celebrate the choices I make for the planet and my clients. As a holistic hairstylist, sustainability isn’t a trend—it’s the heart of how I live and work. So, I wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes look at the ways I show love to Mother Earth in my salon space and beyond.
Recycling Beauty Waste with Green Circle Salons
Hair clippings, used foils, empty color tubes—most salons toss these straight into the trash. Not mine. I partner with Green Circle Salons to recycle and repurpose up to 95% of beauty waste that would otherwise end up in landfills. That means even your highlights are a little more planet-friendly. It feels amazing knowing that something as simple as where your hair gets done can make a real environmental impact.
Choosing Organic, Sustainable Products That Truly Work
You won’t find harsh chemicals or synthetic fragrances in my space. I curate my backbar and retail shelves with products that are good for your health, your hair, and the earth. Some of my favorites include:
Innersense Organic Beauty: Clean, luxurious, and formulated with certified organic ingredients. Their styling products are game-changers for textured hair.
Oway: Biodynamic farming, glass packaging, and high-performance results. I especially love their treatments and scalp care.
Afterworld Organics: NYC-based, plant-powered, and perfect for clients who want ultra-clean formulas with minimalist packaging.
O&M (Original & Mineral): Non-toxic color and care that performs beautifully without compromising your health.
Arete: Thoughtfully crafted with integrity and intention. Their products feel like a ritual in a bottle.
Each of these brands aligns with my commitment to clean beauty and sustainability. If you’re ever curious about switching up your routine at home, I’m always happy to help you find the right fit.
Lowering Emissions by Working from Home
One of the biggest shifts I made for both lifestyle and sustainability was setting up my studio at home. By eliminating a daily commute, I significantly reduce my carbon footprint—and create a more peaceful, intimate space for you to relax in. It’s a win-win: less pollution, more connection.
Every Small Step Matters
I believe that sustainability is a journey, not a destination. Whether it’s composting coffee grounds, refilling bottles, or encouraging mindful product use, I try to make conscious choices wherever I can. The beauty industry has a long way to go, but together, we can be part of a more beautiful future.
This Earth Month (and every month), I’m proud to be doing hair in a way that honors the planet, my clients, and my own values. If that speaks to you, let’s chat about how we can keep making your beauty routine greener and more holistic.
